Covid-19 Update:
11 Things Himalaya is Doing to Keep Our Staff and the Public Safe

1)
Himalaya is providing hand sanitizer to all staff and their families. (In fact, in mid-March, we began manufacturing ourselves specifically for this purpose, when we were unable to source it elsewhere. And we manufactured enough to also provide it to our retailers with every delivery.)

2) Working from home is required for any staff member that can do so.

3) Social distancing is being maintained by spacing manufacturing staff.

4) We’re providing N95 masks to our staff and retail partners. Himalaya is leveraging our battery and packaging suppliers (in China) to import bulk shipments of N95 masks. We are providing these masks first to our staff and partners. Any surplus will be donated to local hospitals.

5) Himalaya has purchased cleaning and paper products in bulk, and we’ve offered this to staff to take home as needed, in order to allow employees to avoid personal trips to the store.

6) Delivery drivers are wearing N95 masks and gloves. They sanitize and change gloves before and after each delivery. All distribution materials are sanitized daily upon returning to the facility.

7) Twice daily sanitation within the facility: All work surfaces, door handles, and common areas are sanitized twice a day. (Once at 7am and then again at 5pm.)

8) All staff is required to wash their hands anytime they enter or exit the facility or their work area, as well as before and after eating.

9) All employees are required to wear masks and gloves while in the work area, and must change their gloves any time they leave that area.

10) To reduce the number of trips employees take for meals, Himalaya has purchased individually wrapped lunch and snack items for employees.

11) Even before the pandemic, Himalaya offered sick leave to all staff, beyond the legally required minimum. And we have mandated that any employee who is sick or who has potentially been exposed to Covid-19 must stay home. In the event that a staff member must take an extended leave due to Covid-19 exposure, the company has offered open-ended payroll advances to assist that employee until they begin receiving government benefits.

VAPE SAFELY
WITH HIMALAYA
A Letter from Our Founders

Updated October 4, 2019

To Our Valued Customers,

At Himalaya, we’re committed to the health of our customers.   As the founders of Himalaya, we want to personally assure you that Himalaya products are safe and free of contaminants.

We take quality seriously.  Knowing exactly what goes into every Himalaya cartridge allows us to guarantee the safety and integrity of our products.

In response to the recent tragic reports of vaping-related lung disease, we’ve provided the answers below to help explain the situation.  We want to reassure our loyal customers that Himalaya cartridges do not pose a risk of lung damage.  Enjoy without worry.

Summary:

  • Himalaya cartridges are safe and free of contaminants.

  • Himalaya products do not contain solvents, fillers, thinners/thickeners, diluents or carriers.

  • Every single batch is tested for contaminants and toxins by a third-party, state-licensed laboratory.

  • There is no risk that Himalaya products have been adulterated with vitamin E oil.

  • Since October, we have voluntarily tested all batches of Himalaya for vitamin E acetate, and published the results publicly on the official Batch Compliance Certificates of Analysis.

  • Himalaya uses premium ceramic cartridges with glass tanks and ceramic mouthpieces. (No plastic. No glues.)

  • Because we produce Himalaya ourselves, we can tightly control quality and guarantee that the final product is clean and safe.

Are Himalaya cartridges safe?

Yes, Himalaya cartridges are safe.  Keep reading to find out why.

Does Himalaya contain fillers, solvents, thinners or thickeners such as PG, PEG, VG, MCT or vitamin E oil?

No. Himalaya does not contain PG, PEG, VG, MCT, vitamin E oil, or any other fillers, solvents, diluents, thinners or thickeners.

What about the recent outbreak of vape-related lung illness?

The lung illness has been linked exclusively to contaminated black market vape cartridges. These bootleg cartridges are illegal street drugs: unregulated, untested, and cut with toxic fillers and contaminants.

There have been ZERO cases of contamination or lung illness linked to legal, California-licensed cartridges. We are subject to strict regulations, similar to those governing food and pharmaceutical manufacturers. Our facility is routinely inspected by the California Department of Public Health. And every batch of Himalaya must pass testing at a third-party state-licensed laboratory.

What’s in Himalaya oil, and how do you know it’s safe?

The compounds in Himalaya cannabis oil – terpenes, esters, flavonoids, and cannabinoids – are the same found naturally in the cannabis plant.  Inhaled cannabis has a long history of safe use.  Humans have smoked cannabis flower and concentrates for thousands of years without a single known case of acute lung damage.

Are Himalaya products lab tested?

Absolutely. Before being shipped to retailers, every single batch of Himalaya is tested by an independent state-licensed laboratory. This comprehensive batch testing screens for all types of contaminants and toxins including: pesticides, microbiologicals (bacteria), mycotoxins (mold), solvents, and heavy metals.

Himalaya products are tested at ANRESCO, a laboratory with over 75 years of experience testing agricultural products for contamination.  ANRESCO is widely considered to be the toughest laboratory in the state. You can view the lab reports here or by scanning the QR code on any Himalaya package.

How can you be sure that Himalaya hasn’t been adulterated with vitamin E acetate?

We have performed multiple rounds of laboratory testing to confirm what we already know: Himalaya products have not been adulterated with vitamin E acetate. Since October, we have voluntarily tested all new batches of Himalaya for vitamin E acetate. The results are published on the official Batch Compliance Certificates of Analysis.

What about the cartridge hardware itself?

We use only premium ceramic cartridges with high quality glass, metal and ceramic components. They are specially designed to resist high heat and the various chemical compounds found in cannabis concentrate. Our cartridges do not contain plastics, glues, or other materials that might leech toxic compounds into the oil.

How does Himalaya guarantee that its products are safe and free of contaminants?

We make every Himalaya cartridge ourselves, so we control exactly what ends up in every Himalaya product.

A surprising number of cannabis cartridges are “white labeled”: the company selling them owns the brand but outsources the extraction, formulation, filling and packaging to somebody else.  It’s impossible to know what’s in the oil, where it came from, or how it was made.

Not at Himalaya.  We do not rely on third-party contractors to formulate our oil or fill our cartridges.  Nor do we buy “vape ready” oil from other manufacturers.  Because we do all that in-house, we can control the quality and be 100% certain of the integrity of every Himalaya cartridge.

Furthermore, we have already performed extensive laboratory testing to confirm that Himalaya products have not been contaminated with vitamin E oil.

Our talented team includes PhD chemists, experienced university research lab managers, trained chemical and mechanical engineers, and the odd pot farmer - all dedicated to making a safe, clean product.
